The Fine Arts program at MLHS is a very active part of the quality, Christian education offerred to our students.  We strive to provide an opportunity for every student in the arts.  In fact, almost 2/3 of our student body uses their God-given gifts by participating in one or more of our Fine Arts programs!  Contact information for each department is listed below.


   

ART  (Carrie Ungemach; x.485)  Our Art Department offers a two-year cycle of classes using a variety of media, materials and techniques.  Student projects are on display in school throughout the year, culminating at our annual Prism Concert & Art Show.


BAND (high school)  (Randy Kramer; x.390)  Our band program is comprised of four groups:

  • Symphonic Band
  • Jazz Ensemble
  • Pep Band
  • Marching Band

Our program also works very closely with the Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin, a compilation of other WELS high schools that tour the state and country during the summer.

   

   

BAND (grade school)  (Renee Schmill; x.395)  Our grade school band program provides individual lessons, along with performance opportunities, to students in grades 5-8 of our Federation grade schools and congregations.


CHORAL  (Joel Ungemach; x.380)  Our choir program is comprised of four groups:

  • Freshman Choir - a component of our Music Theory Class
  • Cantate Choir - a frosh & soph elective, performing  during our four annual concerts.  This group focuses on vocal fundamentals through a variety of musical styles.
  • Concert Choir - a Jr. & Sr. elective, performing in school concerts as well as the Wisconsin State Music Assoc. Festival and other school and congregation functions.
  • Lancer Singers - an extra-curricular ambassador group chosen by audtion.  This group has been extremely successful in WSMA state competions, receiving "Starred-First" ratings for 11 consecutive years.
   

   

DRAMA  (Renee Schmill; x.395)  The spring, 2010, musical is "Little Women", presented April 23rd & 24th at 7pm, and April 25th at 2pm. Our drama program is an extra-curricular program open to all MLHS students.  Each year, plays and musical productions are presented almost entirely by students - from acting to lights & sound, from stage design to pit orchestra.
